Saturn V Launch Vehicle
Huntsville, Alabama
On July 16, 1969, when Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin, and Michael Collins took off on our first expedition to the surface of the moon, they were carried by a Saturn V Launch Vehicle. Because parts of the launch vehicle were designed to fall away during flight, you can't visit a Saturn V that has actually flown to the moon. At the Alabama Space and Rocket Center, though, you can see a real Saturn V that was used for testing.
