Cleveland Arcade

Built in 1888, the Cleveland Arcade is made up of two 9-story office buildings connected by an enormous iron and glass roof called a "sky light." The shopping arcade is a 19th century building type that may remind you of shopping malls you see today in suburban neighborhoods. But this is different in several ways. It was built long before you were born. It is in the heart of a major city. It has five levels inside. And it is so big that it stretches between two downtown streets! Imagine how it must feel to look down at people from the top!
