Bell Telephone Laboratories
New York City, New York
From 1889 to 1966, 436 West Street was home of Bell Telephone Laboratories (a company jointly owned from 1925 by American Telephone and Telegraph Company and Western Electric). These drawings are based on 1920s photographs of the Laboratories and its technicians. Major contributions to the telecommunications industry were made here, including the telephone, radio, phonograph records, motion pictures, and television. Can you imagine your life today without any one of these inventions?
