Upcoming Listening Sessions—Please Join Us
Thank you for your continued interest and participation in the grant program. In preparation for the Fiscal Year 2010 appropriation and the next grant cycle, we would like to hear your thoughts on this first year of the grant program. We encourage you to provide your comments on the components of the grant program that you would like to see continued, and any aspects of the grant program that you would like to see changed. As part of that information-gathering process, the NPS will host a series of “Listening Sessions” in early December at several locations throughout the country. We invite you to provide your thoughts in person at one of these Listening Sessions, which are scheduled as follows:

Directions: The meeting will be held in Conference Room 10A in the NPS building. From North of Denver—Travel southbound on 1-25 to 6th Ave. Go West on 6th Ave to Simms/Unions Blvd. Take the exit and turn left (south) onto Simms/Union Blvd. Travel South on Simms/Union Blvd. to Alameda Parkway. Turn right (south-east) onto Alameda Parkway. The NPS is one mile down the road on the corner of Youngfield and W. Alameda Pkwy. Parking lot entrances are located on the West side of the building on W. Alameda Drive. From West of Denver—Travel eastbound on 1-70 toward Denver. Take exit number 261 for 6th Ave. Travel east on 6th Ave. to Simms/Union Blvd. Take the exit and turn right or South on Simms/Union Blvd. to Alameda Parkway. Turn right (or south-east) onto Alameda Parkway. Proceed as above. The main building entrance is located on the West side. Please check in with the security guard at the front entrance to sign-in and obtain a visitor’s badge.

Directions: From the Eastside: Take I-90 West to the Rainier Avenue South exit. Take the northbound Rainier Avenue South exit and continue to South Jackson Street. This is a five-way intersection. Turn right onto South Jackson. The Densho offices are in a brick three-story building on the left side of the street, right next to the Jackson Plaza shopping area. There is a redwood fence in front of the building. Continue up the hill to 16th Avenue. Turn left onto 16th Avenue and take an immediate left into the alley between the IBEW Local 77 Building and some condominiums. Follow the alley back to the parking area for Densho and the Buddhist Church. From I-5 Northbound: Take the Dearborn exit and turn right. Go to Rainier Avenue South and turn left. Follow it to South Jackson Street and turn right. Proceed as above. From I-5 Southbound: Take the Bellevue/I-90 exit ramp and take the Dearborn exit and turn left. Go to Rainier Avenue South and turn left. Follow it to South Jackson Street and turn right. Proceed as above.

Directions: From the North (Bay Bridge) – Going South on 101, take the 9th Street Exit. After exiting, go straight through the signal onto Harrison and turn right on 9th Street. At Market, the left lanes of 9th Street turn into Hayes Street. Take Hayes to Franklin Street. Turn right on Franklin, then left on Sutter. The center is located at 1840 Sutter Street on the right side between Buchanan and Webster. From the South – Going North on 101, take the 9th Street/Civic Center Exit. Go north/left on to 9th Street. At Market, 9th Street becomes Larkin. Continue on Larkin then turn left on Sutter. The center is located at 1840 Sutter Street on the right side between Buchanan and Webster. Parking - Street parking is available around the center with normal street restrictions. Additional public parking is available at the Japan Center garage and on Webster Street. Japan Center Parking - There are two indoor parking garages in the Japan Center. Entrances are on Geary between Laguna and Webster, Fillmore between Geary and Post, and Post between Webster and Laguna. Both garages are open every day.
