MOUNT RAINIER NATURE NEWS NOTES

Paradise Valley: Aug. 4th - The entire musical program at Paradise
Inn last night was almost wrecked by an obtrusive mouse. The guests
were seated with their chairs in a closed circle about the outer lobby.
In the center of that part of the main floor exposed to a mezzanine view
stood the singer. All else was quiet until a tiny brown form was
discovered scuttering about on the open floor, completely surrounded by
the circle of seated guests. A mouse. Alas, many a shine was
recovered at the expense of the upholstery.
Every time the mouse attempted to take cover under the surrounding
furniture it was frightened by shrill feminine exclamations and hasty
movements. Finally the tiny ad perfectly inocent intruder - closely
pursued by a galloping bell boy - took refuge under the piano. After a
few minutes the entertainer (who was forced to withdraw from the floor
during the commotion) came back and continued the program with a new
number. The whole incident might be described as a "scream."
