A little drama was enacted recently between White River Public Camp and Glacier Basin involving a lone pedestrian making a late trip to Storbo Minin Camp and a very interesting specie of animal life. Coming around a turn in the road the traveler was startled by a crash in the underbrush just ahead. Presently he made out two very bright balls of fire suspended in air and quite far apart - too far apart in fact to make breathing at all feasable.
Wanting to turn and flee in the worst way, but fearing to do so without a show of some sort of power, he flourished a pocket torch and finally threw it toward the point of danger. The balls of fire disappeared almost abruptly as they had appeared and with considerable relief the late traveller hurried on.
The next day the tracks of a large cougar were found in the civinity of the above occurrence.
We are hesitant in telling of the above episode for fear that a stampede may be instigated to this district by parties interested in experiencing some of the thrills of this lone traveller.
