Figure 2. 1990 U.S. Census: Ethnicity in the Natchitoches area

Two sets of pie charts and bar charts are provided giving the population distribution of ethnic groups in two parts of the research area in 1990.

The first set is a pie chart and bar chart relating to the Natchitoches Parish population of 37,377. The Black population was 14,787 or 40%. The White population was 21,472 or 57%. The Other category was 1,118 or 3% and included Other Hispanic and Non-Hispanic (315), Asian or Pacific Islander (103), American Indian, Eskimo, or Aleut (231), Black Hispanic (121), and White Hispanic (348).

The second set is a pie chart and bar chart relating to the Natchitoches City population of 16,609. The Black population was 8,199 or 49%. The White population was 7.993 or 48%. The Other category was 417 or 3% and included Other Hispanic and Non-Hispanic (113), Asian or Pacific Islander (67), American Indian, Eskimo, or Aleut (71), Black Hispanic (93), and White Hispanic (73).
