How to fix Open Type Font Install Errors
Computers with specific nVidia Quadro graphics cards may have problems installing OpenType/Type 1/PostScript fonts (such as the NPS Rawlinson and Frutiger fonts).
When installing the font, the user receives an error message: "Unable to install the <FontName> font. The font file may be damaged. Check with your vendor about obtaining a new file." This is caused by a memory size issue related to the video driver. Windows expects the device driver to be smaller than a certain size, but the nVidia driver is slightly larger.
CAUTION: This fix requires a manual edit to the Windows Registry settings. Creating this registry entry requires local administrator rights on the computer. Contact your local IT support if you need assistance. HFC will not be responsible for damaged files or computer equipment. Follow these instructions at your own risk.
Create the registry key manually using these steps:
Start Registry Editor:
Start ->Run ->REGEDIT
Locate and click the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
On the Edit menu, click New then DWORD Value. Then add the appropriate information:
Data: 20 (Decimal)
Restart the computer.
After creating the registry key and restarting, the font(s) should install correctly.
