Park-Produced Publications

The site bulletin program, begun in the early 1980s by Harpers Ferry Center, has been updated and incorporated into the NPS Graphic Identity Program. Site bulletin standards and formats make your publication easier to produce and give it structure and coherence. See the Park-Produced Publications section of this website for information, tools, and templates. Park-Produced Publications

Review by HFC Staff

Harpers Ferry Center is always glad to review your park-produced publications. We’ll look at them with an eye to your local needs and to National Park Service graphic standards. These standards play the same role in interpretive media that the National Park Service uniform plays for personal contacts with the public. A strong visual identity speaks with authority, conveys an organizational unity, and creates expectations of high quality in information provided to the public. NPS Graphic Identity Program

Consulting

We serve as consultants to park staffs who need advice on editorial, cartographic, or graphic design matters or on typical costs of producing and printing a publication. Graphics-related questions might be about design, photo sources, formats, pre-press production, printing, and map production. Or you may have text-related concerns about writing, editing, style, or how to select outside editors and writers. We have found it helpful to put parks in touch with other parks who have already dealt with publication issues such as foreign language publications, large-print publications, and the standards of the NPS Graphic Identity Program. Sometimes we can steer you away from making a costly mistake or suggest how you might get a product that is as good or better for less work or less money. Please don't hesitate to contact us. Our staff will direct you to the best person to answer your question. Contact us
