Media Samples for Class Review

Documents for TelNet Broadcast

  • Media Development Worksheet (3 pages - PDF) – An outline of the general phases of interpretive media development that apply to National Park Service projects produced through Harpers Ferry Center, contractors, or other sources.
  • Interpretive Media Selection – Selecting interpretive media solutions is as much art as science. To reach your audience you may use wayside exhibits, publications, audiovisual programs, museum exhibits, and personal services. There is rarely only one way to achieve a goal, and each situation has its own particular mix of factors to consider. Learn how to determine which media are best suited to which tasks.
  • Interpretive Structure of Media Worksheet (2 pages - PDF) – a developmental activity for interpreters to examine the interpretive elements and interpretive function of media products.
  • Module 311 Interpretive Media Rubric for Peer Review Certification – this is the current standard used in the Interpretive Development Program for assessing the interpretive function and effectiveness of media products submitted for peer review.
  • Exhibit Requirements and Disciplines – A list of specialized knowledge and skills needed by those involved in exhibit development, and those requirements based on law, policy, or professional practice. This is a report generated by a database file which is continually evolving as new requirements and disciplines are identified.
  • Media Development Process (1 page - PDF) – An outline of the general phases of interpretive media development that apply to National Park Service projects produced through Harpers Ferry Center, contractors, or other sources. Sometimes called the "Media Wheel."
  • Media Development Process for Small Projects (1 page - PDF) – General phases of development for smaller interpretive media projects accomplished primarily at the park level. Projects may include site bulletins, exhibits, wayside exhibits, or audiovisual programs.
