Enlisted Men's Barracks:

Enlisted Men’s Barracks at Fort Davis National Historic Site in Texas. Harpers Ferry Center curators assisted in the site’s reproduction of military uniforms and equipment for this area. The use of reproductions here is appropriate because the National Park Service would not have been able to locate multiple examples of original furnishings.

Accurate reproductions are essential for a convincing living history or interactive program. Reproductions can also be a cost effective alternative to antiques in some historic furnishings installations. Our curators maintain lists of craftspeople who have produced the best and most accurate furniture, ceramics, and metal objects. If you have an object in your collection that you would like reproduced, we can guide you to the right craftsperson. If you are missing an object that you need, we can help find a prototype that can be reproduced.
