Discovery Center Exhibits
“Children of Courage: Young People and the Struggle for Civil
Rights” is a Discovery Center exhibition created by the National
Park Service for Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site
in Atlanta, Georgia. The new exhibits and movie explore segregation
in the 1930s, the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s,
and civil and human rights issues around the world today...all from
a young person’s perspective.
The direct involvement of young students and teachers in the planning
process has been vital to this project. A professional media evaluator
was a part of the project team to make sure that the exhibition
is effective, sensitive, and relevant to young visitors.
