Traveling by airplane, train, or bus?

West Branch is 40 miles from the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and 50 miles from the Quad Cities Airport in Moline, Illinois. Shuttle service is available from the Eastern Iowa Airport. From Cedar Rapids take I-380 south, then I-80 east to exit 254. From Moline take I-80 west to exit 254.

Amtrak's California Zephyr line stops in Mount Pleasant (70 miles from West Branch) and Burlington, Iowa (84 miles from West Branch). From Mount Pleasant, take US-218 north to I-80, then take I-80 east to exit 254. From Burlington, take US-61 north to I-80, then take the I-80 west to exit 254.

Greyhound bus service stops in Iowa City, Iowa. From Iowa City, take I-80 east to exit 254.

 

Parking

Parking is limited so please allow extra time to find a parking space. Park at the Visitor Center, Presidential Library and Museum, Gravesite, and at the picnic shelters.

Bus and recreational vehicle (RV) parking for the Visitor Center and Presidential Library and Museum is on Parkside Drive across the street from the Visitor Center. Buses and RVs may park also at the gravesite and picnic areas. Additional parking may be found on the streets of West Branch. All on-site facilities are within walking distance of the parking lots.

 

Designated handicapped parking spaces are available in all parking lots. Those spaces are reserved for vehicles which are properly marked with a handicapped license plate or government-issued hang-tag.

Did You Know?
The West Branch Schoolhouse was built in 1853 making it the oldest building at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. The town's Quakers also used the one-room building as their first meetinghouse.
