Special events like concerts on the Village Green require special use permits.

Special uses of Herbert Hoover National Historic Site require permits. Special uses are short-term activities in the park that benefit an individual, group or organization, rather than the public at large. Examples are:

  • Weddings and other group gatherings or events
  • Commercial filming and photography
  • Food service

The National Park Service may permit a special use if it will not harm the park's resources or values, visitor experiences, or is in conflict with the purpose for which the park was established. More about laws & policies »

For more information about special use permits and how to apply for them, contact the special park uses coordinator at (319) 643-7857.
