Event Details
A traveling exhibit commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War focusses on slavery as the fundamental cause of the war, the challenges of geography and transportation faced by military leaders in the Trans-Mississippi West, and how the Civil War and the ongoing guerilla warfare in the West led to lawlessness, chaos, and fear on the home front and in daily life.
"Civil War in the West" will be intermittently unavailable from Monday, January 28 to Friday, February 15. During that time park staff will be preparing the exhibit room for installation of a new permanent exhibit later this year.
