WEST BRANCH, IOWA— In accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations (36 CFR 7.60, "Herbert Hoover National Historic Site Special Regulation"), the superintendent of Herbert Hoover National Historic Site may permit, after consideration of existing special situations, like depth of snow, and depending on local weather conditions, the use of snowmobiles only on the shoulder of the paved surface of Parkside Drive between Main Street in West Branch and Interstate Highway 80.

"I have determined that there is sufficient snow cover and weather conditions for snowmobiles to safely operate on the paved surface of Parkside Drive between Main Street and Interstate 80," said Pete Swisher, acting superintendent of Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. "This determination will remain in effect until rescinded."

The operators of snowmobiles are responsible for knowing and abiding by all state and local traffic safety laws applicable to this type of conveyance.
