Brown Snake

The wet meadow and creek provide habitat for at least four species of snake: fox, Dekay’s brown snake, plains garter, and common garter. Additionally, western ribbon snake, rat snake, and bull snake have been observed in mesic areas of the prairie.

Did You Know?
The West Branch Schoolhouse was built in 1853 making it the oldest building at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. The town's Quakers also used the one-room building as their first meetinghouse.
