WEST BRANCH, IOWA— The Visitor Center at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site will reopen on Monday, April 13, 2009. The Visitor Center has been closed for the replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system.

Visitors to Herbert Hoover National Historic Site will again be able to get information about the park or to buy federal recreational passes at the Visitor Center daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors needing information over the telephone may still call (319) 643-2541. Additional information about the park is on the Web at www.nps.gov/heho.

“We appreciate our visitors’ and neighbors’ patience while we finished this necessary work,” said National Historic Site Superintendent Cheryl A. Schreier. “The contractor, Knopke Contracting Services, was very good to work with and completed the project a month and a half ahead of schedule.” The new HVAC system replaces the building’s original system, which was installed in 1970. The new system will meet today’s higher energy efficiency standards and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum are in West Branch, Iowa at exit 254 off I-80. Both are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. Parking is limited so please allow extra time to find a parking space.
