Contact: Adam Prato, (319) 643-7855 WEST BRANCH, IOWA— The 2009 Artist-in-Residence program at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site featured writer Laura Madeline Wiseman and painter Patricia Rottino Cummins. Each artist donated work created during their residencies this summer. Ms. Wiseman’s poem “Maternal Lineage” may be found on the park’s website: https://www.nps.gov/heho. Ms. Cummins’ painting “Back Door at Hoover Cottage” is on display at the Visitor Center along with works from past Artists-in-Residence. The Artist-in-Residence program is open to all professional American artists whose work can help interpret the history and beauty of Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. The park will not have Artists-in-Residence in 2010. Rehabilitation projects on historic buildings used for seasonal staff housing mean that we cannot provide lodging to artists in 2010. The park will announce the application period for the 2011 Artist-in-Residence Program next fall. Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum are in West Branch, Iowa at exit 254 off I-80. Both are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. Parking is limited so please allow extra time to find a parking space. |
