New Hire for Historians & Engineers

 

New applicants MUST submit the following FOUR items:

  1. U.S. Government Standard Form OF-612 (PDF) or Resume
    • include social security number and birth date
    • include all paid as well as unpaid experience which qualifies you for the position
    • You DO NOT have to specify whether you wish to work for HABS, HAER or HALS

  2. College Transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)

  3. Letter of Recommendation from a faculty member or recent employer.

  4. Appropriate Work Samples:

    Historians and Engineers need to submit for consideration: a paper, not to exceed 40 pages, demonstrating primary research and a command of secondary sources, in architectural history, landscape history, history of technology, industrial archeology, or an aspect of the built environment. Engineers must demonstrate proficiency in technical writing and analysis of historic engineering structures and/or technical processes. Do not send electronic files. Applicant must be sole author.

NOTE: Incomplete applications WILL NOT receive consideration!
The College Transcripts and the Letter of Recommendation may be sent separately from the other items of the application package. All submissions must be in hard copy; no digital applications will be accepted. Positions are open only to United States citizens. Foreign citizens seeking summer employment may wish to contact the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).
