The Kāpili Choir is the premier vocal ensemble of the University of Hawaiʻi Hilo campus, under the direction of Dr. Matthew Howell. "Kāpili, in Hawaiian, means 'to build, put together, join, or unite,'" Howell said. "It's an idea exemplified by the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, which has a diverse student body population. The choir's mission is the performance of choral music from around the world and to unite singers from diverse cultures in the common pursuit of musical excellence and personal accomplishment." Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is proud to present the Kāpili Choir in a special evening concert where they will be performing an eclectic blend of gospel, early American and contemporary Hawaiian choral arrangements.
