Darryl Castillo - February 20 2013 Performance at Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park Kīlauea Visitor Center Auditorium
Come and enjoy an evening of island music with singer and BMI songwriter Darryl Castillo. Born and raised in Hilo, Hawai'i, he grew up surrounded by music and entertainment. After high school, Castillo pursued his entertainment career, encouraged by his music teacher, playwright and mentor Clarence Waipā.
As a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Darryl was featured in numerous television programs including Jake and The Fatman, Island Son, and McDonald's Restaurants, to name a few. He recorded two albums, "Follow the Light" and "Son Crazy" both of which garnered Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award nominations for "Best Inspirational" albums. In 1995, Castillo became the lead musician for "Rising Tide", with its fishing hit, "Mr. Pole Benda" and "Liliko'i Lover", on the TV show "BONES".
Darryl has worked with actors Richard Chamberlain (Island Son) and William Conrad & Joe Penny (Jake & The Fatman) and musicians Henry Kapono (C & K ) and Randy Lorenzo (Country Comfort & Peter Moon Band). He currently performs at PINEAPPLES Fresh Island Cuisine in Hilo and LUQUIN'S Mexican Restaurant in Pāhoa.

`Ohelo (Vaccinium reticulatum) is a relative of blueberries and a favorite food of nene, the Hawaiian Goose. Its berries range from dark red to pale yellow when ripe and are sacred to Pele, the volcano deity.
