Kilauea Glows

Halema`uma`u at Dawn

The lava lake in the vent in Halema`uma`u crater is currently around 260 feet below the crater floor presenting a spectacular show after dark.


Kilauea Visitor Center Display Gets Sound

Informative and educational talks with audio and open captioning are now being presented at the Kilauea Visitor Center.

The slightly darker ceiling tile at the top center of the photo is actually an amplified speaker array. It uses digital signal proccessing to focus the sound downward so that even when the Visitor Center is busy and noisy, the audio can still be heard below.
