Hampton National Historic Site
Parking Improvements

NOTICE!

As of April 1, 2009 the National Park Service has begun improving parking facilities at Hampton National Historic Site. Visitors coming by cars, POVs should follow the temporary signage to access the mansion and temporary parking lot.

During the period of construction, April and May, 2009 the main parking lot will be unavailable for bus parking.

Busses will be accommodated on the farm side of the property. If heading East down Hampton Lane (from the Dulaney Valley Road) proceed past the park sign on your right for an eighth of a mile. You will see a white gravel road on your left. Turn down the gravel road and drive up towards the stone building with red shutters (Mule Barn). Passengers may be discharged at that point.

Unfortunately, due to lack of turnaround space, busses may not remain on the premises. Busses will exit out the rear entrance, turn left on St. Francis Road, drive a eighth of a mile, turning left on Windy Gate and proceeding to Hampton Lane.

Students and chaperones will have to walk across the park to visit the mansion. The distance is approximately a quarter mile, most of which is uphill. Rangers and volunteers will provide a historical talk en route.

We appreciate your willingness to accommodate us during the repaving project.

Cedar-of-Lebanon Tree

Did You Know?
The impressive Cedar-of-Lebanon that in the center of the south lawn was, according to family legend, brought back from Europe in a shoe box.
