National Park Week - April 21 - April 29, 2012
In celebration of National Park Week, all visitors to the park will receive free admission. Special activities will be offered throughout the week.
Daily:
National Park Service trivia buffs can earn a prize hourly at park visitor centers by answering a challenge question.
20-minute guided hikes along Keonehe'ehe'e (Sliding Sands) Trail or Pa Ka 'oao Trail at 9am, 10am, and 11am at the Haleakala Visitor Center on the crater rim.
Volunteer Day - April 21, 2012
You can make a difference! Roll up your sleeves and pitch in pulling invasive weeds with our park partners.
Friends of Haleakala National Park is hosting their monthly overnight service trip into the Wilderness Area. Volunteers spend the night in Holua cabin. Call (808) 572-4487 or go to www.fhnp.org for more information and to sign up.

Earth Day - April 22, 2012
We are offering our Walk on the Wetside guided hike through The Nature Conservancy's Waikamoi Preserve. This 5-mile, 5-hour hike takes you through native forest and focuses on the intact ecosystem of the area. Reservations are required and can be made up to one week in advance by calling (808) 572-4400.
Junior Ranger Day - April 28, 2012
Participants in our Junior Ranger Program, designed for kids aged 7-12, will be honored this day. We invite young visitors to complete the program and be sworn in as Junior Rangers.
Join park staff for a 20-minute guided hike on Pa Ka `oao Trail at 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, or 1pm. Meet at Haleakala Visitor Center.
