O`heo Stream and Pools Closed
The O`heo stream, located along the Pipiwai Trail, remains closed due to high water and damaged stream monitoring equipment. Visitors are advised to abide by posted “stream closed” signs and the direction of park staff.
For your safety
The Summit and Kīpahulu Districts are remote. An ambulance can take up to 45 minutes to arrive at either district from the nearest town. People with respiratory or other medical conditions should also be aware that the summit of Haleakalā is at 10,000 ft.
Drive cautiously - Endangered birds land on roadway
Nēnē (Hawaiian geese) are nesting in the park and may land on or frequent park roads and parking lots. Drivers are reminded to drive at the posted speed limits and exercise caution.

Daily at 10am and 3pm, park naturalists present a nature talk at the Kipahulu Visitor Center. Topics may included the surrounding ecosystem, Hawaiians and the environment, plants, animals, etc. No reservations required. We recommend bringing athletic shoes, water, insect repellent, and sun protection.
