Harpers Ferry National Historical Park proudly presents "Mr. Lincoln Returns to Harpers Ferry" on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. in the Lower Town District of the park. Our 16th President comes to life as Jim Getty portrays Abraham Lincoln and shares his homespun stories of youth, recollections of personal and political life, and anguishes he suffered.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's only visit to Harpers Ferry. During the first week of October, 1862, the President travelled here via the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad to review and congratulate troops of the victorious Army of the Potomac following the Battle of Antietam. Lincoln spent the night in Harpers Ferry on October 1.
For years Getty has enlightened and entertained audiences across the country. As a noted Lincoln historian, he delights all ages with his performances and historical detail. Come to see Mr. Lincoln. Laugh along with his special brand of humor and feel the Commander-in-Chief's own personal torment over the difficult decisions he faced with preserving the Union.
"Mr. Lincoln Returns to Harpers Ferry." Special performances at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. in the Lower Town District of the park.
