    Arlington Memorial Bridge and Memorial Circle will be closed for the Rolling Thunder XXV First Amendment Demonstration Run. Please be flexible to increased traffic and potential closures in the area all weekend.

Every year, Volunteers-in-Parks (VIPs) provide thousands of hours of service to improve the quality of local parks and help the National Park Service achieve its mission of preserving these resources for future generations.

Required Forms

Volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Services Agreement for Natural Resources Agencies Form (OF 301A) prior to participating in the volunteer activities. Organizations may fill out one form for the group and include a list of participants. Volunteers under 18 years need to fill out an individual form, regardless of group participation, and have the signature of a parent or guardian.

 

Volunteer Opportunities on the GWMP

Cleanups

Every year, volunteers remove hundreds of bags of garbage from parks on the George Washington Memorial Parkway. If you would like to arrange for a group to conduct a cleanup on one of our parks, please call 703-289-2553.

Mount Vernon Trail Patrol

Looking for a way to give back to the community while getting your exercise? The Mount Vernon Trail is one of the most heavily used trails in the National Park Service. Trail patrollers keep trail users and the park safe. Training is provided. For more information about the Mount Vernon Trail Patrol, please call 703-289-2553.

Weed Warriors

The National Park Service strives to restore and preserve the natural ecosystem. Weed Warriors remove non-native species that threaten native vegetation and wildlife. Training is provided. To learn more about Weed Warriors, please call 703-299-2545.
