George Washington Memorial Parkway
Pets

Things to know about bringing a pet to the park:

  • All pets must be on a six foot leash at all times. There are no off leash areas on the G.W. Parkway.
  • Do not leave your pet inside a parked car. Temperatures during the warmer months can be fatal.
  • Bring water for your pet, as well as yourself.

Pets are permitted on most trails. With the exception of service animals, pets are not permitted in historic homes, visitor centers, and ranger-led programs.

Off-leash dog parks are located in Alexandria, VA, and in the towns of Reston and Herndon, VA.
