What Can I Bring or Not Bring?

Tips on How to Enjoy a Happy & Safe Fourth of July at the
George Washington Memorial Parkway

  • Picnics are encouraged. In fact, Fort Hunt Park, located 6 miles south of Old Town Alexandria in Virginia, will be open for picnicking, with no permits necessary, on July 4!
  • Due to safety concerns, no personal grills will be allowed in park areas between Key Bridge and Daingerfield Island during the July 4 holiday. In addition, food will be available for purchase at concession stands and/or restaurants at Daingerfield Island, Gravelly Point, and the Netherlands Carillon.
  • Fireworks, alcohol, and glass bottles are not allowed along George Washington Memorial Parkway.
