Tips on How to Enjoy a Happy & Safe Fourth of July 2008 at the
George Washington Memorial Parkway

  • Visitors may attend a free concert from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on July 4 at the Netherlands Carillon. The carillon is a large bell tower located near the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, in Arlington, Virginia. Listen to bell chimes and climb the tower stairs to see one of the best views of Washington, D.C. The National Park Service recommends visitors use METRO or other public transportation, since on-site parking will not be available.
  • Tourmobile, the official low-cost shuttle service to National Park Service sites in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, will not operate on July 4.
