Tips to Help You Celebrate a Happy and Safe Fourth of July 2008 along the George Washington Memorial Parkway

  • NEW!    Information and first aid tents will be available at: (1) the U.S. Marine Corps
    War Memorial (commonly known as the Iwo Jima Memorial) and Netherlands Carillon,
    (2) north of Memorial Circle, (3) south of Memorial Circle in Lady Bird Johnson Park, and
    (4) Gravelly Point.
  • NEW!    On July 4, due to the Humpback Bridge Construction Project, all of Columbia Island and Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove will be closed to the general public, with the exception of people who rent boat slips at the marina.

Did You Know?
The U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial honors Marines who sacrificed their lives for their nation. The statue is based on a photograph taken on Iwo Jima during World War II and was dedicated in 1954.
