Trail patrols changing a flat tire

Interested in becoming a trail patroller?

Volunteer trail patrollers bike or walk the trail on their own time and help keep the trail safe for everyone. Trail patrols are ambassadors for the National Park Service. They carry a bike repair kit, first aid kit, and maps of the trail to help park visitors. Patrollers also report any hazards on the trail to the park. Volunteer training is provided by the park service. In 2008, trail patrols logged over 1,500 hours of service. Trail patrols can also get involved in other service activities going on within the park. To join, please contact the park by calling 703-289-2500 or e-mail us
