Popular Trail Connections
Mount Vernon Trail (MVT)
Custis Trail and Rosslyn (near MVT mile 18): From the Custis trail in Rosslyn at the intersection between North Lynn Street and Lee Highway. Cross North Lynn Street and the trail connector begins on the other side of the intersection. A bike-pedestrian bridge cross over the George Washington Memorial Parkway and ends at the beginning of the Mount Vernon Trail at Theordore Roosevelt Island.
Crystal City (near MVT mile 14): The trail connector starts on South Crystal Drive just north of 18th Street.
Four Mile Run (near MVT mile 12.5): This trail ends at the Mount Vernon Trail just south of Reagan National Airport.
Other trail connections can be made from the following bridges: Key Bridge*, Roosevelt Bridge, Memorial Bridge, 14th Street Bridge, and Wilson Bridge. See the Arlington, Alexandria, and Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) links for other trails on regional maps.
*For Key Bridge connection, cross the bridge and the trail connector is located at the intersection between North Lynn Street and Lee Highway. If you cross the Key Bridge on the right side you will have to turn left at Lee Highway (on the Custis Trail) to get to the intersection.
Parking
The trail has six major parking lots (listed north to south): Theodore Roosevelt Island, Gravelly Point, Daingerfield Island, Belle Haven Park, Fort Hunt Park and Mount Vernon. Parking lots are accessible off the George Washington Memorial Parkway, see trail map for exact locations. Metro
Rosslyn Metro station - Orange and Blue Lines(near MVT mile 18): Go one block east then turn left on North Lynn Street. Turn right onto bike trail immediately after highway exit ramp. (If you see the National Park Service depot on your right, you've missed your turn.) Cross over the George Washington Memorial Parkway on a bicycle bridge to the Roosevelt Island parking lot. Arlington Cemetery/Memorial Ave station - Blue Line (near MVT mile 17): trail is located to the east, access to the trail via crosswalks across the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
Crystal City Metro station - Blue and Yellow Lines (near MVT mile 14): Go left on 18th Street and then turn left where 18th Street ends, on South Crystal Drive. Continue north on South Crystal Drive and entrance to connector trail is about 100-feet down on the right.
National Airport Metro station - Blue and Yellow Lines (near MVT mile 14): The trail is west of the hourly and daily parking garage. Connections available via airport sidewalks (unmarked) or a connector trail with a tunnel (closed for ongoing construction 2010) under the airport access road.
King Street Metro station - Yellow Line (Alexandria): King Street is just north of the station. Turn Right on King Street and follow it about 16 blocks until it ends at Union Street. Also access via FREE TROLLEY 7 days a week – see visitors tab at http://www.alexandriava.gov/. Union Street spans Old Town, linking the north and south portions of the Mount Vernon Trail.
