Jones Point Park
|
Located on the southern tip of Old Town Alexandria, Jones Point Park contains the southernmost boundary marker of the original boundary of the District of Columbia planned by George Washington. A 19th century lighthouse gives glimpses of the past in the old port city of Alexandria. The playing fields and hiking paths offer recreational opportunity and a chance to enjoy local wildlife in an urban landscape. Rehabilitation Project Starting in November 2010, Jones Point will have temporary closures that will last for 18-24 months. This is due to an extensive rehabilitation project that will take place at Jones Point Park. Updates will be posted on this page. For more information, or if you have questions, contact the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The rehabilitation closures will be done in stages, so that the entire park does not need to be closed at once. The Mount Vernon Trail will remain open throughout the rehabilitation.
