Gulf Islands National Seashore Announces Reduction of Lifeguard Coverage Gulf Islands National Seashore Superintendent Dan Brown announced today that lifeguard coverage on West Ship Island designated swim area will be reduced due to some of the lifeguards returning to school.Lifeguard coverage on West Ship Island will be limited to weekends only (Saturday and Sunday) from August 25, 2012 through Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2012. Superintendent Brown encourages everyone to come out and have a safe enjoyable Labor Day weekend at Gulf Islands National Seashore.For park information, call the William M.
