GULF BREEZE, FL: Superintendent Dan Brown announced today that Gulf Islands National Seashore will hold two additional open house meetings to present the draft General Management Plan and to gather public input and comment. In addition, the comment period has been extended until December 9, 2011. Once finalized, the plan will provide long-term management guidance for the National Seashore. Two meetings will be held in November:

The additional meetings and time extension are the result of several questions and comments the park has received regarding the draft plan. This will allow the public another opportunity to ask questions about the plan and additional time to submit their written comments.

The draft plan and environmental impact statement has been available since September 9, 2011 and will be available for public review until December 9, 2011 at the visitor centers above or on the NPS Planning, Environment, and Public Comment (PEPC) website at Comments may be submitted electronically at the website above, by email at, or by regular mail to: Superintendent, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Attn: GUIS GMP, 1801 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, Florida 32563, by Friday, December 9, 2011.
