Pensacola Beach, Florida: On Saturday, November 5th, at 6:00 p.m., join a Gulf Islands National Seashore Park Ranger for an hour-long program on the November full moon and night skies at Langdon Beach Gulf side pavilion in the Fort Pickens area of Gulf Islands National Seashore. This one-hour program follows a planetary lineup of our solar system 100 yards down the Gulf beach and concludes with stargazing and stories about the park species that depend upon dark night skies for their survival. Although including an evening picnic to dine under the full moon is optional, rangers recommend bringing a blanket to sit on during parts of the programs. This free program is a beautiful treat for the whole family and friends.
Although the Fort Pickens area closes at sunset except to registered campers and visitors with valid Night-Owl permits, the entrance station will be open for this program. An $8.00 entrance fee is collected at the Fort Pickens Area and is good for seven days. Visitors who have valid Gulf Islands National Seashore annual pass, the National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Pass Series including Annual, Senior, and Access Passes are admitted free. The Fort Pickens Area will close after the "Full Moon Walk" is over except to registered campers and visitors with valid Night-Owl permits.
For information about this program or others please call the Naval Live Oaks Visitor Center at 850-934-2600 or visit the park's webpage at www.nps.gov/guis.
