In addition to our regular summer program, the park sponsors many special events. This page will be updated regularly with information on upcoming events.

December 3, 2005

Victorian Christmas Open House

The elegant Kohrs family ranch house will be decorated to reflect a Victorian Christmas. A pianist will play holiday music on the Kohrs piano, and artifacts previously unseen by the public will be displayed. Activities include house tours, wagon rides, blacksmithing, children's crafts and activities, and assorted refreshments. For more information contact the

May 21-22, 2005

Draft Horse Play Days

Teamsters and their stock will gather at the historic ranch in Deer Lodge for the annual Montana Draft Horse and Mule Association Play Days. Bring your team or come watch the skill of the handlers as hitched teams pull logs, run an obstacle course, or demonstrate animal-powered equipment. Activities will run Saturday from 10 to 4 and Sunday from 10 to 2. Wagon rides of the old ranch and Deer Lodge will be available Sunday morning, weather permitting. The event is open to all, participant or visitor, at no charge. For more information contact the special events coordinator.

Western Heritage Days

This annual celebrations hosts a variety of activities and new programs. Cowboy entertainers, saddlemakers, chuckwagon lore, and blacksmithing demonstrations help bring the ranch alive during this weekend festival. Haying Demonstration

Come see the historic beaverslide haystacker in operation. We will be having two days of haying demonstrations using draft horses and historic equipment. For more information contact the special events coordinator.

Haunted Halloween

Come celebrate Halloween with us. See and hear some of the spookier tales of the ranch! Activities include pumpkin painting, ghost stories told by author Ellen Baumler, evening ghostly house tours, haunted ranch tours with skits performed by local high school drama students, children's activities, refreshments, and weather permitting a bonfire.
