This lesson is designed as a team teaching experience; Physical Education/Health, Math, and Science. Students will learn to identify wildflowers and their specific characteristics. They will also learn how to use a pedometer, calculate calories expended, and determine steps taken to gauge the distance traveled.
Students will learn about the basic parts of the flower and then go out and observe samples of wildflowers that are found at Grant-Kohrs Ranch. You would need to plan this lesson for late spring when flowers are blooming. This lesson can be adapted for any area where wildflowers are blooming.
Through this research oriented lesson, students will learn about different breeds of horses. Then they will create a PowerPoint presentation of a breed of horse. The class will then take a field trip to the Grant-Kohrs Ranch NHS or other type of ranch to interact with and see different breeds of horses.
