  • Fire Danger High Warning

    The park is under a fire danger high warning. There are very dry conditions. Please be aware of any wind conditions that could carry ashes from your contained fire in the grill. As always, please make sure your campfire is completely put out!

  • Greenbelt Ranger Station near the campground will reopen in mid April

    The Greenbelt Ranger Station near the campground will reopen seven days a week 9:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. starting for National Park Week. (April 19-27) The Greenbelt Park Headquarters will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Plan A Field Trip

The Sweetgum Picnic Area is a good destination for school trips. Sweetgum has picnic tables, bathroom facilities, playground equipment, the Azalea trail for trail walks, and a good place for environmental education.  Please call us for more information.  This area is a non reserved area with 4 tables, 24 people maximum.
The park is dealing with a serious tick issue.  If you decide to use the park, please use tick repellant.

Did You Know?

that the Greenbelt Park (Md) campground hosted the Native American's Longest Walk II. The original Longest Walk was completed in 1978 as Native Americans protested the rights and conditions of the Native American communities.
