The National Park Service hosts Canon and American Park Network
in presenting free digital photography workshops. Join a photo walk with seasoned professionals who share their experience taking landscape and wildlife photographs using the latest digital technology.

Jonathan Long, a fine art landscape photographer, exhibiting artist and photography teacher is leading the instructor team here in Grand Canyon. Prior to moving to Bozeman to teach in the School of Film & Photography at Montana State University, he worked as an assistant to world renowned wildlife photographer Thomas Mangelsen in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Jonathan's work has been widely exhibited both nationally and internationally, including the Ping Yao International Photography Festival in China, and recently in a photography exhibit at the National Museum of Canada.  He and other instructors will teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced workshops that range in subject matter from how to use the digital SLR, to compositional tools you can use to create dynamic imagery.

In addition to free expert instruction, students are provided with an e-mailed link to download all photographs taken on the workshop, and a printing session at the end of each class for students and passersby to print several of their images.  No Cameras necessary!  There are several of Canon's latest digital SLR's to choose from, as well as a wide range of lenses for all participants.  Please come a half hour early for sign up.

GRAND CANYON'S DESERT VIEW WATCHTOWER

Did You Know?
Building a structure that provides the widest possible view of the Grand Canyon yet harmonizes with its setting was architect Mary Colter's goal when the Santa Fe Railroad hired her in 1930 to design a gift shop and rest area at Desert View Point. The Watchtower opened in May of 1933.
