NPS Photo by J.V. Lloyd - March 1935

A new and modern hotel for the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, to be known as Bright Angel Lodge, is shown here during the earlier stages of construction. This new $500,000 structure is rising on the site of and taking the place of, the old Bright Angel Hotel, which latter facility for many years was one of the principal landmarks of the South Rim.

The new lodge is being designed especially for motorists. It will contain numerous cabins at popular prices, to meet the requirements of all classes of visitors.
