Bright Angel Lodge, designed in 1935 by famed Southwest architect Mary Jane Colter has a natural rustic character, and is a Registered National Historic Landmark. This iconic lodge and its surrounding cabins are rich with cultural history. Over the years it has gone through many transformations – originally a hotel, then a camp and finally a lodge. Today, the Bright Angel Lodge and surrounding cabins serves as an iconic remembrance of its colorful past. Located at the top of the Bright Angel Trail Head the facility sees visitors from all around the world. Grand Canyon Association’s in-park stores feature a wide variety of books, maps, DVDs and gifts to help you plan your trip to Grand Canyon, learn more about its geology, ecology and human history, or find the perfect canyon-inspired gift. As the park's official nonprofit partner, GCA cooperates with the National Park Service to operate park store in seven locations in the park. Park store purchases help fund new exhibits, scientific research, trail restoration, wildlife monitoring, ecological restoration, support for the arts, Junior Ranger and education programs, and historic building preservation. The Cafe is located next door to the visitor center at Mather Point, shares space with the bike rental facility, and is the only place to satisfy your cravings at the Visitor Center. Carrying local food and drinks, the cafe offers a variety of delicious Grab ‘n Go sandwiches, salads, pastries, a full service espresso bar and also a large variety of juices, sodas, and energy drinks.
