Tusayan/Grand Canyon, AZ – The Halfway Fire remains 100 percent contained and is exhibiting minimal fire behavior. Overnight, no growth or creeping of the fire occurred. Crews will be continuing mop-up work throughout the day and tomorrow. Updated mapping has confirmed the fire is approximately 250 acres in size.

Fire Behavior: Minimal
Closures: None at this time

Smoke impacts will be minimal to the Tusayan/Grand Canyon area this morning and should lift by mid-day. There could be light smoke impacts again tomorrow in the morning if conditions remain the same. Weather today will be breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. There is also currently a red flag warning which means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring or will occur shortly. Visitors are also reminded that Stage 2 fire restrictions remain in place on the Tusayan and Williams Ranger Districts of the Kaibab National Forest.

This will be the final Halfway Fire update unless there are significant developments.
