Grand Canyon, Ariz. - National Park Service investigators are seeking information on two separate incidents of possible child abuse in Grand Canyon National Park, both involving the same family.

On Monday, August 15, and Sunday, August 28, 45-year old Christopher Carlson was contacted by rangers while hiking with his three grandchildren (ages 8, 9 and 12) on the Bright Angel Trail, located on the South Rim of the canyon. As a result of the observed condition of his grandchildren and his alleged actions during these hikes, Mr. Carlson was arrested and is facing six charges of felony child abuse.

National Park Service investigators are asking anyone who was on the Bright Angel Trail on August 15 or 28, saw Mr. Carlson and his three grandchildren, and believes they have information regarding this case to call the Grand Canyon Silent Witness Line at 928-638-7767.

No additional information regarding these incidents is available at this time.
