Overview

Explore an ancient sea floor now turned to stone as your class hunts for fossils in the Kaibab Formation. In this two-hour program, students use scientific tools to identify and measure fossils and record their data in field journals. Students determine the habitats and habits of the ancient creatures and begin to piece together clues as to what type of environment formed the top layer of rock at Grand Canyon. This program helps students understand how environments have changed over time, ultimately explaining the variety of colorful sedimentary rock layers now found in Grand Canyon. Suitable for those traveling on the Grand Canyon Railway.

THEODORE ROOSEVELT AT THE GRAND CANYON

Did You Know?
Pres. Teddy Roosevelt said of the Grand Canyon, "Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it. What you can do is to keep it for your children, your children's children, and for all who come after you, as one of the great sights which every American should see."
