Governors Island National Monument Closed for the Season on October 11

The island will re-open for the season at the end of May, 2010. We look forward to seeing you then.

National Park Ranger led programs, special events, self-guided activities, lectures and the ferry schedule will be posted in the middle of May, 2010.

Army Heritage Day, Saturday, June 19-20

Discover over 150 years of Army history at Governors Island National Monument.  National Park Rangers, the 319th US Army Band, Revolutionary and Civil War living historians and members of today's military will provide re-enactments, children's programming, musical demonstrations, and lectures which pay tribute to army life on Governors Island.

Civil War Weekend - August 7-8
The National Park Service, 119th New York Volunteers, The GawdAwful Mess and Battery G of the First Pennsylvania Light Artillery will provide family friendly activities, living history demonstrations, music and other programs designed to introduce you to the men and women of the Governors Island Garrison and Confederates imprisoned on the island.
