Army Heritage Day, Saturday, June 20
Discover over 150 years of Army history at Governors Island National Monument. National Park Rangers, the 319th US Army Band, Revolutionary and Civil War living historians and members of today's military will provide re-enactments, children's programming, musical demonstrations, and lectures which pay tribute to army life on Governors Island. Civil War Weekend - August 8,9
The National Park Service, , and Battery G of the First Pennsylvania Light Artillery will provide family friendly activities, living history demonstrations, music and other programs designed to introduce you to the men and women of the Governors Island Garrison and Confederates imprisoned on the island.

Saturday, June 27 - Edwin Burrows presents Forgotten Patriots: The Untold Story of American Prisoners During the Revolutionary War
Location: Meet at Pershing Hall at 2:30 PM.
July:
Sunday, July 12 - The Long Island Writers' Guild Returns to Governors Island for a Public Reading
Location: Meet at Pershing Hall at 1:00 PM. Program lasts until 4:00 PM.
Join members of the for a public reading of original works.
Topics will explore the relationship between Long Island and New York City. Some of these works are found in the Guild’s anthology - 2001: A Long Island Odyssey.
If you would like to read your original work we will have an open mic on a time available basis.
All work needs to be appropriate for a family audience.

Saturday, July 18 - Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum Presents Apple Pressing and Arts/Crafts for Children.
Location: To Be Announced. This program will run continually from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM (the last program ends at 3:00 PM).
Join members of the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum to learn how to press apples. Children will also have the opportunity to create "delft" tiles, a Dutch craft.
This lecture is a part of the Hudson Heritage Event Series, a partnership between the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum and the National Park Service Lecture Series to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Hudson’s exploration of New York Harbor.
Sunday, July 19 - Dr. Sean Sawyer – Columbia University – lecture exploring the history of the Wyckoff family, one of the first Dutch settlers in Brooklyn and the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum.
Location: Meet at Pershing Hall at 1:30 PM.
This lecture is a part of the Hudson Heritage Event Series, a partnership between the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum and the National Park Service Lecture Series to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Hudson’s exploration of New York Harbor.
Sunday, July 19 - “Big Apple Aviation” by Jessica Kratz, the Greenbelt Nature Center Coordinator for New York City Parks and Recreation
Location: Meet at Pershing Hall at 2:30 PM
Ms. Kratz will present the story New York City in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Hudson – Fulton Celebration.
Afterwards, join a National Park Ranger for a walking tour discussing the historic Wright Brothers flight from Governors Island during the Hudson-Fulton Celebration of 1909.
Saturday, July 25 - Historical Balladeer, Linda Russell presents an afternoon of history and song.
