The 2013 Public Access Season has concluded
The 2013 public access season on Governors Island has ended. Governors Island will re-open to the public Memorial Day Weekend, 2014.

Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 AM and 2:15 PM. Join a National Park Ranger and an array of persons from the past as you explore the island's historic landmark district, which features structures dating back to 1794. In seeing the island historical landmarks, you may get a chance to meet the people who lived and worked in them in their heyday! The tour is approximately 1.5 miles walking with little time for breaks. There is no food, water, or restroom access during these tours, so please plan accordingly.Visitors will catch the ferry departing at 10 AM and returning by 12:15 PM or departing at 2:15 PM and returning by 4:15 PM.
These programs are ranger escorted. Governors Island is closed on weekdays and visitors cannot leave the tour group or explore the island on their own. Visitors will board the ferry, meet their guide, and upon completion of the program, must depart on the next available ferry. Tickets will be distributed for all programs starting one hour before the program begins and a limited number will be available. Please arrive early to ensure you will receive one. Tickets can be acquired at the Battery Maritime Building.
